About us
Japanese Tofu, Made with a Mother’s Care in Malaysia

“I want my family to enjoy truly delicious tofu — even here in Malaysia.”
OOEDO TOFU was born from a simple, honest wish.
Founded by Mariko Ejima, a Japanese mother living in Malaysia, our tofu is crafted with the same care you would give to your own family.
From Concept to Craft
The idea for OOEDO TOFU began over 10 years ago, when Mariko invited master tofu makers from Somenoya, a 160-year-old artisan tofu shop in Japan, to test Malaysian water and create trial tofu at Oribe Art Gallery.
After the pandemic, she restarted the dream.
It took 3 years of preparation, trial and learning — and OOEDO TOFU was born.
Why We Make Tofu
When one of Mariko’s children developed chronic atopic dermatitis, she began studying food, fermentation, macrobiotics, and traditional nutrition.
She came to believe:
“Tofu, when made properly, is one of the best foods for health.”
Learning from Japan’s Masters

She trained at three tofu shops in Japan, including one in Shiramine, Ishikawa — where mornings began as early as 2:00 a.m.
She earned her Tofu Meister certification, and to this day, Somenoya provides technical supervision.
Our Commitment to Quality

Most supermarket tofu is made with preservatives or long boiling times to extend shelf life — often compromising flavor and nutrition.
At OOEDO TOFU:
-
We handcraft each batch with time and care
-
We do not use preservatives
-
We keep shelf life short to ensure freshness
Ingredients we use:
-
Non-GMO soybeans from Japan
-
Natural Okinawan nigari
-
Purified & quality-assured water
(Though Malaysia’s water differs from Japan’s, we purify and condition it for the best taste)
-
Specialized tofu-making equipment from Japan
From One Product to Eleven

At the Japanese Association Charity Bazaar on November 5th, we sold out 300 blocks of Yose Tofu in just hours.
Today, we offer 11 handcrafted tofu products — including Atsuage, Yuba, Edamame Tofu, and more.
Bringing Tofu Into Everyday Life

Whether it’s a family dinner, a healthy choice for kids, or a light solo lunch, we hope OOEDO TOFU becomes part of your everyday routine.
